Do you have a few hours to spare each week?
Would you like to join our small, friendly team?
We will pay your out-of-pocket expenses and you do not need to be deaf to volunteer.
We need volunteers to undertake a number of different roles:
We need volunteers at our monthly Hearing Help Sessions, which are held in the Chelmsford, Braintree, Maldon, Pitsea and Uttlesford districts. As well as attending our drop in sessions ask volunteers who to visit housebound clients in their homes to clean and retube their hearing aids in those areas except Pitsea.
Befriending Volunteers, would you like to help someone with hearing loss that is feeling lonely? Just a chat once every now and again, in person or by some other means. Look for activities in the area they could attend and help them have the confidence to go along.
Help our Outreach Workers, Kay and Julie, when they are doing talks and displays. Chat to people in general and make sure they get the advice they need.
Volunteers can help at the Resource Centre with general administration tasks, or organise fund raising events for us. We would be keen to use any specialist knowledge like bid writing, social media use.
A DBS check is required for the first two volunteering activities, full training will be given in all cases.
